My family of 4 visited this establishment last night. Although we enjoyed the crab cake and shrimp appetizers, my husband and I were very disappointed with our entrees. It was very bland and not at all what we were expecting for it to be so pricey. The asparagus was awful. I tried to salvage it with salt and drawn butter but to no avail. The ribeye steak was of poor quality and tasteless...I did enjoy my baked potato at least. My husband had the same thing except he had mashed potatoes and also complained about the utter lack of taste to everything. However, the service from the hostess and waitress were outstanding! No complaints there! If I just wanted to go back for drinks and wonderful hospitality I would, but for the food? No thank you.

Nice location. Outside tables make for nice atmosphere, some nights they have live bands which can make for a noisy environment. I haven't eaten inside yet. We had lunch, I had the pastrami on pretzle bread. Very good. Wife had Cesar salad with shrimp. Also good. Very nice presentation. Waitstaff was accomidating and knowledgable. Lunch for 2 was 30 bucks.

Went to Jack's last night while in Punta Gorda for an anniversary weekend. First off the specials menu is deceptive and worded awkwardly. Saturday night does not have any deals like advertised...strike one. Draft beers: wait staff names off what is on tap, make selection and comes back to say they no longer have that. Not that the keg is kicked, just just straight don' have it... strike two. Lastly, for their entree of pan seared scallops for a whopping 21.95 consisted of three large and two medium sea scallops. Over-seasoned and seared on only one side, somewhat undercooked. The side of yellow rice was also crunchy. My girlfriend's angel hair with shrimp and scallops was 19.95 and consisted of 2 shrimp and 2 scallops and about a half pound of pasta drowned in sauce. Strike three. I understand that this is a somewhat pricer restaurant in town but the quality or quantity of food does not justify the prices. The only reason they get two stars is the overall service from the waitstaff; despite the displeasure of overall dining experience..

Fantastic specials! We adored the steaks, and asparagus and flexibility with the menu due to our dietary needs. Our server was was very attentive and sweet. Id like to see more Palio options on the menu, as well as cooler air-conditioning. Overall, we were very pleased and will be back!

Just got back from Jacks and thought I'd write a quick review. We were across the street at Ace and I said to my SO, we've never been to Jacks so let's give it a try. We walked over and sat at the indoor bar because it was just baking outside. We were between services and enjoyed the laid back comfortable atmosphere and the engaging staff. We were shown a bar menu but nothing looked appetizing. I totally would have purchased an order of hummus had I seen it on the menu (saw it on another's review.) Not sure we saw the quesadillas on the bar menu either. Maybe they don't offer the dining room menu to the bar crowd but maybe they should. Still, loved the cool a/c, location and the clientele. Take a look at my cool indoor photo looking out. Hope my PG Yelp Stalker (here on out known as the PGYS) doesn't start stalking me here as well because I really want to go back. LOL.

Historic downtown Punta Gorda, 1.5 walking distance from the pier! Corner location so there is a nice view to people watch! We are here for lunch, I ordered Calypso Seafood soup and salad, both very yummy! Jeff ordered the Pressed Cuban and he's loving it! Service is delightful, it's still early for lunchers! Atmosphere is very open, inviting and fun! I'm sure it would be a great place to bring friends

It was nice.. Wasn't blown away but a nice place. My waitress was very nice and handled our wrong order very well.

We were lucky enough to get there early for the Sofrito Pork and Macadamia encrusted Talapia both were superb. My husband got a Caesar salad and I opted for the Calypso soup neither of which were too memorable. I highly recommend Jack's the service was exemplary, and the main dishes outstanding. If you like Lechon Asado, you will love Sofrito Pork.

The food is really good, the soup was amazing, and The waitress was very attentive. Atmosphere was pleasant as well. Next time I want to try the prime rib philly.

Food: 5 stars Service: 1 stars Hummus was amazing, and so was the seafood platter, but they messed up my friends order and our waiter was very slow with the service and it cost him and his restaurant dramatically in this review. I will go back there one more time, but they will have to win me over to get me to come back a third time.

Had some family in from out of town and ventured from our house to touristy downtown for a bite to eat. I had heard about Jack's from friends but hadn't eaten here yet. We all had a great time here, a great meal and great drinks. The waitress said the bartender had a big batch of mango puree he whipped up so we had a load of Mango daiquiris with lunch. very refreshing on a hot summer day. Our food was great, cooked to order and delivered in a timely manner. Our server was very nice and on her game as well. I will definitely be back!!

Service, quality of food and ambiance A+. Jacks is my favorite restaurant in Punta Gorda. I had the best Haddock and it came with soup or salad and 2 sides all under $20!!!! Our server was incredibly attentive and couldn't have been nicer. Looking forward to my next visit!

Another perfect late lunch at Jack's! Love the quesadilla. Sat at the indoor bar and was quickly served a piping hit quesadilla with extra salsa. The corn salsa it is delivered with is fresh, which is a huge plus. My favorite place to eat on the Gulf Coast!

Good food at a good price. American style. Had endless organic salad and soup. Great price. Poor service from bar tender. Didn't have much time for our group. Was clean, though.

Had my 2nd visit and found the food and service equal to my first visit 2 years ago. Soup and salad was very good and plentiful. Tried all the soups. Owner came by on this visit and actually sat with us for a couple minutes. Very nice touch. We will be back!! Lots of parking near restaurant.

I hear they have changed the chef and comments are its better. It looks good coming out from the kitchen. One note, the bar girls have hair down past their shoulders and is not tied and crosses over whatever they are doing. Too long to not be pulled back and not professional. Service is good though and staff friendly. Usually live outside music and the crowd seems to have a good time.

Stopped by on a road trip, and didn't know what to expect. I ordered the "Trendsetter burger". What a great burger! The presentation was great too. The avocado was sliced to look like a flower. Great food, great service.

Absolutely delicious, but portions too small. Prices upper-mid range. Went there hungry. $100 for 3 people. Left there hungry.

I don't know how any of these positive reviews could be authentic. The salsa for the chips came right out of a can or jar and tasted like cheap ketchup. The chips didn't even have salt on them-completely flavorless. The spinach and Artichoke pizza was one disgusting greasy mess on a previously frozen excuse for Flatbread. The fruit plate had rancid pineapple on it. The fish wasn'teven completely unfrozen in the fish taco. The waitress took away the uneaten food without asking any questions and charged us the full price. The manager was nice and tried to accommodate my gluten free friend. But I came hungry and left just as hungry.

Dropped in for a drink. Its, * Nice * New * Clean * Has a cool pass-through window bar at corner wherein you can look inside or out * Cheap cocktails relative to Miami, a bit pricey for Punta perhaps? * Friendly staff That's it for now.

Great Walnut Pear Candied Salad! Very friendly and attentive staff that check on you throughout your meal. The staff here, including Erika, are awesome, very friendly and outgoing. You can tell they are trying to give this place a younger vibe, and I think it's great for this area. The only suggestion I have for this place is that they include some more traditional bar menu items (like buffalo chicken wings), despite their good attempt at adding some class to this bar/restaurant. Also worth noting is that they have a great outdoor seating area for midday or evening people watching.

DO NOT EAT HERE. Totally over priced, poor quality, poor service. Cannot understand how it has any positive reviews. Unless they wrote them themselves. We havebeen to this restaurant three times. First time last summer for lunch. Not very busy but service was extremely slow. The food was virtually inedible and overpriced. He had a fish dish. I had a burger. My husband insisted we give it another try which we did in October this time we waited almost half an hour for a table even though the restaurant was not busy. After we sat down our waitress seem totally disinterested. We ordered drinks and water. The water came and after sitting for 20 minutes we still had no drinks so we just got up and left. Last night was the final straw. Most of the tables were empty but we were told it was a 15 minute wait. We left and came back still plenty of empty tables. We sat at one until we were finally called to sit at a different table. More tha half hour wait for a virtually empty restaurant. Again, long wait for a server, after we ordered it took 15 minutes to get the soup, black bean, topped with under cooked cubes of carrot. The bread if you could call it that, was nothing but a prefrozen sams club style cook and brown roll. It was under cooked looked more like white sausage, Another 15-20 minute for the main course. I ordered meatloaf what got was a steamed burger wrapped in limp bacon, nasty. My husband ordered a pasta dish. He is not a fussy eater, in fact he will eat anything. But he did not east the pasta nor I the so called meatloaf. The only thing edible were the mashed potatoes. The waitress did not question why we did not eat the food, she just wished a happy day. How pathetic is that. Don't waste you time or money

Really enjoyed our lunch here. The staff were very nice and attentive. I ordered the onion rings as an appetizer, there were a great price at $5 and very crunchy! The chipotle dipping sauce was really tasty too! For an entree I had the grouper Po boy which was very good the voodoo sauce was tangy and yummy! Definitely enjoyed this as a lunch place!

I had seafood soup...great flavor...needed a bit more substance. Roast beef sandwich was actually outstanding, but again could have used a bit more beef. John the waiter was great, but the service was a bit slow.

New owners have really taken this restaurant up a notch. I've been several times over the last couple of months, have tried new items each time, and have never been disappointed. The new menu features some delectable bites, and the flavored are spot on delicious! I would highly recommend Jacks on Marion!

Took my Dad here last night for dinner. We both had the filet mignon. Both were excellent, Dad's cooked a perfect medium rare, mine a lovely medium well. I had the red wine bernaise sauce, and it was sooo tasty. Sides were terrific as well. We split a Tuxedo Bombe for dessert - I had a birthday cake waiting at home for Dad, it's still there untouched! The dining room is nicely done, and we could easily converse. Live music started about halfway through our meal, outside, and we could just barely hear it. All in all, it was a great experience. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Dined there with my wife and daughter and can only give it a three at best. Good points were the grilled pork tenderloin and the shrimp risotto. Pork had a tasty gravy with a nice selection of vegetables and a baked potato and my daughters shrimp were spiced well, although she said the risotto was too salty. My wife's seafood pasta was thick (although the waitress said it was thin) and had just a few shrimp. One major weakness is their lack of a robust beer selection. We may return, but its not on our "A" list right now.

It was 2 for 1 dinner night, so it was very crowded and very noisy. We waited 15 minutes for an outdoor table where it was quieter. The beer selection is not great. I asked for a Newcastle and the waitress never even heard of it. She told me they had Bud Light Platinum (gross) so I just got a Yuengling. The fried goat cheese appetizer was very good, as was my grilled grouper entree. It was a tad small for the price but it was 2 for 1 dinner so overall it was an inexpensive dinner. Good food, casual atmosphere, but I felt the service to be clunky.

Went with a party of 4, and was cordially escorted to our table by the hostess, who also professionally addressed our drink order. When our server arrived with the drinks it turned out that one of our diners didn't like the selection, and the manager was very helpful, highly professional, took charge and exchanged it twice, before the person was satisfied. We were able to make our dinner selections. When they finally arrived the Seafood Platter had rice instead of the sweet potatoes ordered. After the meal I asked the server for a dessert menu, which was only forthcoming when after 10 minutes I went up to the bar where she was entering an other order for another party and asked for the menu which came 5 minutes later. This sort of mishap occurred again when ordering coffees where one of the persons received it and not the other. Overall the food was good, but the individual service was misdirected at best or amateuristc at worse. As I had a longtime observing the operation of the staff, it appeared that they were being utilized in a rather arbitrary fashion with each server not having a clearly defined station. I may in the future stop in for a drink during dinner time to observe whether the situation has been resolved.... Michael P. Kerwin

This place was decent for lunch. Everything each of us ate was fantastic. The fish soup was very good! Also had the tuna poke....which was fantastic. The pot stickers were great as well. Service was terrible though...that's my only complaint.

We are out of towners from Chicago and stopped in for lunch. There were 4 adults and 4 children. We have to say the food was EXCELLENT and the service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed but classy and the outdoor seating was ample. Prices were average and expected. The sandwiches and paninis are quite large as are the childrens' meals. Note: for kids under 4 you may want to split meals. We can't wait to return next year!

Cute! my mom and i stopped in during a road trip and were a little thrown off my the appearance of this place, its a little bit higher scale and dennys...i know, weird description. we shared a turkey panini that was really yummy...fresh turkey with spinach and artichoke dip and caramelized onions. im not sure its worth going leaving your house for but if you are hungry and in the neighborhood im sure you will find something that will whet your appetite and satisfy your hunger.

Here's a place that while it enjoys a certain amount of local popularity, it can be very hit or miss. Sometimes we get an excellent server, but other times our server can be inattentive or their demeanor is just not conducive to a pleasant dining experience. Most times the macad.grouper and risotto dishes are good. Vegetables and salads are mundane, showing very little creativity or effort. Soup is usually a better choice. Service out of the kitchen can be very slow and I have had on occasion experienced one persons dish in our party coming out much later than everyone else (always really annoying). Many dishes are just plain disappointing and over-priced. I'd skip shrimp or scallop dishes. They are a particularly poor value. As for the martini bar which connects to the restaurant...skip it. Drinks are over- priced and service is poor. Most times there is no bartender at the bar and you have to wait for drinks to come over from the bar next-door at Jack's. I expect. More attentive service than that, especially if I'm buying a $9 drink. Also carpet and lounge area is shabby. They should consider a makeover with decor and staff. Closing off bar from Jack's with doors would also improve vibe and quiet down bar. Also get rid of pop videos on big screen and go with cool but sophisticated music.
